The Republic of Cyprus is a presidential democracy, with a population of nearly a million. Cyprus enjoys full diplomatic relations with more than 125 nations and is a member of the European Union.
The legal system in Cyprus is based on English Law and although Greek and Turkish are the official languages, English is widely spoken and used in official business and commerce.
Nicosia, the capital city, is the administrative and commercial centre whilst Limassol, the second largest town, is the main industrial centre, commercial port and a major tourist centre. The island has two international airports, two modern port facilities with ‘free port’ status, industrial ‘free zones’ and bonded warehouses.
